Outpatient Rehabilitation Services - Spotlight On: Osteoporosis

Spotlight On: Osteoporosis

The NCH Healthcare system offers a wide variety of Outpatient Rehabilitation programs that address Women's Health issues, one of which is physical therapy for people dealing with osteoporosis.

Did you know that Women start out with lower bone mass than men? Women experience a rapid decline in bone mass after menopause. They are also five times more likely to get osteoporosis than men. Risk of fractures is associated with Osteoporosis. Upon receiving a referral from a physician, a Physical Therapist specializing in treating patients with Osteoporosis, will perform a comprehensive evaluation and provide a customized treatment plan that may include both land and aquatic exercises. The newly expanded program at NCH focuses on spinal alignment and posture, as well as flexibility, mobility, and balance. The primary goals at the completion of treatment include: patient education on osteoporosis, an appropriate home management program, and progression to a fitness center, such as our Wellness Center, based on individual needs.
