World Breastfeeding Week Celebration

(Naples, FL)  To raise awareness of the benefits of breastfeeding and the need for global support, the World Alliance for Breastfeeding Action organizes World Breastfeeding Week every year from August 1 – 7.  Local breastfeeding mothers and mothers-to-be are invited to participate in the” Big Latch On” as follows:

Date: Saturday, August 3, 2013, 9 am

Location: NCH North Naples Hospital, Baker Tower, first floor conference room 11190 Health Park Blvd., Naples, FL  34110.

Event: An informative talk will take place prior to the “Big Latch On.”  Following the event, mothers are invited to “Mother to Mother,” an informal social event encouraging experienced breastfeeding mothers to share their experiences with mothers-to-be.  At noon, a Breastfeeding Education Class (registration required, see details below) is offered to expectant mothers.
World Breastfeeding Week is celebrated in more than 170 countries and marks the signing of the WHO/UNICEF document Innocenti Declaration, which lists the benefits of breastfeeding, plus global and governmental goals.

To mark the occasion thousands of breastfeeding women and their babies/children across the world will gather in their own communities to take part in the “Big Latch On,” a synchronized breastfeeding event in multiple locations.
