May 6, 2014 - (Naples, FL) The NCH Healthcare System announces that Matthew Baker, M.D., Neurologist, and David Pitts, M.D., Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, are the NCH COMPASS Award honorees for 2014.
COMPASS award recipients are nominated by NCH staff members for exemplifying high standards of excellence in clinical care and compassionate relationships with patients, families, colleagues and hospital staff.
Dr. Baker’s nomination noted that he is responsive, patient, kind and approachable with patients, families, and staff. The nomination adds, “He sets the standard for excellent bedside manner. “
Dr. Pitts was recognized for his earnest, educational, and insightful approach to patient care. The nomination adds, “He serves as a teacher/mentor to colleagues and staff and promotes a desire in those around him to strive for the best.”
Nominations are based on the following criteria:
- The physician is an expert clinical decision maker and committed to the highest standard of excellence in clinical care.
- The physician has effective and compassionate relationships with patients and colleagues and is a role model.
- The physician recognizes that the ability to change and continue to learn are essential to the practice of good medicine.
- The physician is involved in community service to improve healthcare within the hospital community.
