THE GOAL:

The goal of the NCH Healthcare System's Department of Pastoral Care is to share spiritual care, pastoral support, and healing grace to all patients, their families, hospital employees, medical staff and volunteers. Ministering to the body, mind and spirit is the very foundation on which Naples Community Hospital was built and will continue to be upheld as the focus and mission of the Department of Pastoral Care.

PASTORAL CARE:

The Department of Pastoral Care is one of the most active departments in the NCH Healthcare System and a model of ecumenical cooperation. Pastoral care, counseling, visitation, comfort, support and spiritual services are provided to all patients and family members.

THE CHAPLAIN:

The NCH Healthcare System provides emotional and spiritual support seven days a week, 24 hours a day through On Call Chaplain Services. The On Call Chaplains are ACPE trained and ordained clergy. The On Call Chaplain can be reached by calling the NCH operator at 624-4000.

CATHOLIC MASS:

The Roman Catholic parishes employ a Priest to serve the Roman Catholic patients. Catholic mass is provided each Sunday during the months of November – May at 12:30 p.m. at the downtown Naples Community Hospital Chapel.

CHAPEL:

There is a Chapel at each hospital and is open 24 hours per day for reflection, meditation and prayer.

CONTINUING EDUCATION:

The Department of Pastoral Care is actively involved in the NCH Healthcare System's educational efforts for patients, families, staff and community. Educational programs are provided for the personal, professional and spiritual development. Seminars, workshops and intern training are provided for patients, staff; community, clergy, seminarians and lay persons. The NCH Healthcare System is an accredited ACPE Clinical Pastoral Education Center and conducts continuing education  programs for clergy, seminarians, and lay persons.

VOLUNTEERS:

The Volunteer Chaplains and Volunteer Pastoral Visitors are a vital resource to the pastoral care of our patients and families. Ordained clergy and certified lay persons are trained to assist the chaplain in meeting the emotional and spiritual needs of our patients and families.

TEAM CONCEPT:

At NCH Healthcare System, the Department of Pastoral Care is an important part of the health care team adding a spiritual dimension to patient care.
