Medical Weight Loss Program

Internationally, weight gain and obesity has been in epidemic. A large percentage of the U.S. population is overweight. Obesity is a complex disorder involving an excessive amount of body fat. Obesity isn’t just a cosmetic concern. It increases your risk of diseases and health problems, such as heart disease, diabetes and high blood pressure.

The good news is that even modest weight loss can improve or prevent the health problems associated with obesity. Medical weight management combines diet, exercise and behavioral therapy that can help you tame your appetite and learn new, healthy habits. Our team includes experts from every medical specialty connected to obesity and weight loss. We all work together to design the safest, most effective individual treatment plan for you.

WHAT IS MEDICAL WEIGHT LOSS?

Unlike other weight loss programs, medical weight loss is not self-directed. A team from various medical specialties relating to obesity and weight loss oversees the medical weight loss plan. Your team that will be overseeing your plan will include experts from fields of medicine, nutrition, psychology, sleep therapy and more. This type of approach leads to better patient outcomes.

Our programs components are tailored to your needs. These may include:

  • Ongoing behavioral therapy
  • Nutritional counseling
  • Personalized fitness advice
  • Meal replacement products
  • Weight loss medication

Am I a Candidate for Medical Weight Loss?

Anyone who is over the body mass index (BMI) of 30 or over may benefit from a medical weight loss program. Obesity is diagnosed when your body mass index (BMI) is 30 or higher. Your body mass index is calculated by dividing your weight in kilograms (kg) by your height in meters (m) squared.

You may also be a candidate for this program if you are experiencing other weight-related conditions, these may include high blood pressure, diabetes or sleep apnea.

What to Expect

We start with a comprehensive assessment of your health. Below you will find some of the aspects we may ask you about during your evaluation:

  • What your home and work environment is like
  • Triggers that lead you to overeat
  • Your blood chemistry
  • Potential medical causes for weight gain
  • How you feel about food and eating
  • Your sleeping patterns
  • Your stress level
