Dr. Shmukler received his undergraduate degree in Biomedical Engineering from Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis, in Indiana. He then went on to receive his medical degree from IU School of Medicine, also in Indianapolis, Indiana. Dr. Shmukler completed his internship and residency in internal medicine at Ascension St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis where he then remained for his fellowship in cardiovascular disease.

Dr. Shmukler is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and holds certifications in adult comprehensive echocardiography and cardiovascular disease. He has particular interest in structural heart disease, congestive heart failure, arrhythmia management and coronary artery disease. He performs transesophageal echocardiograms to aid in the diagnosis and treatment of these conditions. He is passionate about medical education, teaching medical students, residents and fellows. He has completed and presented research on topics ranging from impacts on functional status for heart failure patients and coronary artery dissection. He has been published nearly half a dozen times for his research in cardiovascular disease.

A native of Ukraine, Dr. Shmukler grew up in Israel before moving to Indiana where he has been a practicing physician for more than ten years. He is thrilled to establish his practice in Naples and for his wife and three young sons to enjoy everything Southwest Florida has to offer. Dr. Shmukler brings a fresh perspective and cutting-edge approach to his practice with NCH and looks forward to being your partner in health.
