About Dr. D'Orazio

Dr. D’Orazio completed his undergraduate degree at Lafayette College in Easton, Pennsylvania. He then received his medical degree at Sidney Kimmel Medical College at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Dr. D’Orazio completed his residency in general surgery at St. Louis University Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri followed by a fellowship in cardiothoracic surgery also at St. Louis University Hospital.

Dr. D’Orazio specializes in diagnosis and treatment in adult cardiac surgery. As such, he has served as an adult cardiac and general thoracic surgeon for over 25 years at institutions such as the Kansas Heart Institute in Topeka, Kansas; SSM Health in St. Louis, Missouri and now the Rooney Heart Institute at NCH. Throughout his career, he has served in roles such as Chief of Medical Staff as well as the Director of Cardiothoracic Surgery. In his work, he has a special interest in perioperative patient care and patient experience.

Dr. D’Orazio comes to us most recently from SSM Health in St. Louis, Missouri where he held several leadership roles and initiated and moderated a biweekly multidisciplinary lung cancer conference. He brings a wealth of knowledge and skill both in cardio and general thoracic surgery as well as hospital administration and management. In addition to his passion for improving the quality of patient care, he is also passionate about maintaining the well-being of the staff he works with and is a member of the NCH Physician Wellness Committee.
