This joint venture should be seamless for patients and there will be no lapse in the services we provide.

When the rehabilitation hospital opens, NCH intends to relocate its existing 54-bed rehabilitation unit, The NCH Brookdale Center for Healthy Aging & Rehabilitation, to the new hospital.  Patients will still be cared for by many of the same physicians and staff members that make the move to the new rehabilitation hospital from Brookdale.

NCH employees currently working at the Brookdale Center for Healthy Aging & Rehabilitation will be given an opportunity to apply for roles at the new rehab hospital opening soon or other units and departments within our system.

For years, the Brookdale name has represented quality rehabilitative care available at the only inpatient rehabilitation hospital in Collier County.  NCH and Encompass Health intend to brand the new joint venture hospital in a way that both honors the legacy of the Brookdale name and reflects NCH’s and Encompass Health’s reputation as trusted, high-quality providers.

The hospital is currently under construction in Naples at 14305 Collier Boulevard and scheduled to open in August 2022.

The new hospital will feature spacious private patient rooms with a large therapy gym that features cutting-edge rehabilitation technologies.  Additionally, the new facility will feature therapy spaces where patients can relearn basic daily living functions along with a cafeteria and dayroom.

The following are common diagnosis’ that would require admission to an inpatient rehabilitation facility:

  • CVA/stroke
  • Congenital deformity
  • Amputation
  • Severe arthritis
  • Traumatic brain injury
  • Major multiple trauma
  • Fracture of femur (hip fracture)
  • Spinal cord injury
  • Neurological disorders, including:
    • Multiple sclerosis
    • Motor neuron diseases
    • Polyneuropathy
    • Muscular dystrophy
    • Parkinson’s disease

The inpatient rehabilitation hospital is expected to care for approximately 1,100 patients annually.

The parties expect that NCH will own 50% of the new inpatient rehabilitation upon completion of the joint venture.

The cost is expected to be a little more than $40 million.

The hospital is currently 52,205 square feet with option to expand to nearly 70,000 square feet in the future.  Construction began in August 2021.

Scope of Services

We have earned the highest level of accreditation from the Commission on the Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF), with additional accreditation as a stroke specialty provider. We are also a Joint Commission accredited Stroke Center of excellence. If your life or a loved one’s life has been impacted by an acute illness or injury, we will work together to help you optimize your independence. Once it has been determined that you meet the admission criteria for Brookdale, your inpatient rehabilitation begins. You and your family can be reassured that your medical care will be expertly managed by all services of the NCH Healthcare System. You and your treatment team will work together to develop an individualized program to promote your recovery.
