Transitional Year Program

Welcome to the NCH Healthcare System Transitional Year Residency Program.

Our program became accredited by the ACGME in 2020 and will be welcoming its inaugural class of six residents in July 2021. The program is integrated into Internal Medicine but has the opportunity for electives in your future program of study.

broad-based clinical experience

The Transitional Year program is a one-year program which offers a broad-based clinical experience for learners pursuing training in advanced residencies such as:

  • Anesthesiology
  • Dermatology
  • Neurology
  • Ophthalmology
  • Preventive medicine
  • Physical medicine and rehabilitation
  • Radiation oncology
  • Radiology

Our teaching faculty is a group of enthusiastic physicians with diverse backgrounds who have extensive knowledge and experience in both clinical and academic medicine. Our low resident-to-attending ratio allows close personal attention, no competition between other residents, and the ability to build lifelong mentor relationships with specialists and sub-specialists. We will be opening an onsite simulation center in May 2021 to enhance our trainees’ procedural competencies.

At NCH, we are committed to providing superior care in every patient encounter and strive to deliver high quality, cost-effective healthcare to the community which we serve. The variety of pathologic disease and socioeconomic diversity of our patient population in Naples and Collier County is extraordinarily unique, making for a graduate medical education experience like no other. NCH is recognized as a premier healthcare system with two hospital campuses receiving distinction in several clinical areas and ranked the 11th Best Hospital in Florida by U.S. News and World Report.

I encourage you to explore our website and learn more about the specifics of our program. I look forward to discussing your interest in our Transitional Year Residency Program.
