Professional Practice Model
The Professional Practice Model (PPM) at NCH is a framework that reflects NCH nurses’ values and beliefs of professional nursing practice and describes elements that guide nursing in delivering optimal patient outcomes. The PPM is patient and family-centered and elements that guide nursing practice are described as collaboration, quality and safety, innovation, shared decision-making, teamwork, and professional development.
Shared Decision Making
The purpose of Shared Decision Making (SDM) at NCH Healthcare System is to create an innovative process which empowers nurses and staff at all levels to contribute collaboratively to ownership of nursing practice, standards, and quality of care. It is founded on the cornerstone principles of equity, teamwork, accountability, and autonomy.
SDM allows our nurses and staff to have a voice in decisions related to our clinical leadership and practice so that we can continue to aspire to excellence. When you apply to work at NCH talk with your nurse manager about shared decision making and how you can get involved. Join over 100 nurses in staff nurse decision making that will impact your daily practice.
