Retired Teacher and Fitness Specialist Honors Medical Staff and Family in Her Estate Gift

Cheryl Mullin Devito’s decision to name NCH in her estate plan came from thoughtful consideration and inspiration from loved ones.

“There are many wonderful nonprofits in our community, all of which are very deserving,” Cheryl said. “However, NCH has been in our lives for a long, long time and delivered excellent, compassionate care during some of my family’s most challenging life experiences. I’ve made personal connections with many of the medical staff and want to help them directly.”

Cheryl’s gift will support residents and fellows at the NCH Rooney Heart Institute, whom she notes went through a scrupulous entrance selection process.

“They are really special and represent the professionals who will ensure that the quality of healthcare continues to be elevated for future generations,” she said.

Cheryl’s choice to support NCH was also inspired by her parents.

“My parents did not have the opportunity to attend college, and they saved throughout their lives to ensure that I could,” Cheryl said. “They not only taught me to value education and professional development; they also believed life is all about helping other people. I feel like this gift honors them and is part of the beautiful Dreyer legacy.”

As a pilates instructor for Moorings Park residents and a fitness specialist for Ritz-Carlton spa members and hotel guests, Cheryl said she also feels perfectly aligned with NCH’s mission to help people live a longer, healthier, and happier life. She attends many of NCH’s well-being programs and events to continue learning.

“For our aging population, movement is the key to good health. That’s why I’m also excited about the NCH partnership with Hospital for Special Surgery and the advancement of orthopedic care,” Cheryl said. “It’s clear that every area of healthcare at NCH is being positively transformed, and it’s very exciting to be part of that vision.”

Thoughtful gifts of all sizes enable NCH to meet the ongoing needs to ensure a healthy future for everyone we take care of throughout our hospital and community.
