Frequently Asked Questions
How is the Cardiac Prevention Program different from regular cardiology care?
Traditional cardiology care is often focused on diagnosing and managing heart disease once it develops. The Cardiac Prevention Program takes a preventive approach by identifying and quantifying cardiovascular risk before disease occurs, using advanced diagnostics typically available only at leading academic and research institutions.
How is NCH different from other longevity programs?
Rather than overwhelming patients with extensive reports and biomarker dashboards, we focus on delivering meaningful, physician-guided insights.
Is this a wellness screening or a medical evaluation?
This is a physician-led medical evaluation focused on advanced cardiovascular prevention designed to identify risk earlier, evaluate it more accurately, and guide personalized medical care.
Unlike wellness screenings that provide general risk information, our approach uses hospital-grade diagnostics, expert physician interpretation, and clinically actionable findings to support personalized prevention and treatment strategies.
Why should I participate in the NCH Rooney Heart Institute Cardiac Prevention Program if I already have a cardiologist?
Many patients who join the Cardiac Prevention Program already have a trusted cardiologist. This assessment is not designed to replace that relationship. Instead, it complements and enhances your existing care by providing a deeper understanding of your cardiovascular health.
What's the difference between routine heart care and the Cardiac Prevention Program?
Think of it this way: routine heart care helps ensure your heart is healthy today. The Cardiac Prevention Program helps you understand your risk profile and develop a personalized strategy to reduce your risk of future cardiovascular disease.
Will I receive recommendations based on the latest research?
Yes. All recommendations are grounded in current scientific evidence and best practices in preventive cardiology, helping ensure your care plan reflects the latest advances in cardiovascular medicine.
At the NCH Rooney Heart Institute, our focus is on transforming data into actionable medical insights.
What happens if additional care or follow-up is recommended?
If appropriate, you will have access to the extensive expertise and resources of the NCH Rooney Heart Institute, including advanced cardiac services, ongoing care, and second-opinion consultations.
Is the program physician-led?
Yes. Your care is led entirely by board-certified physicians, not algorithms, wellness coaches, or telehealth providers. Every recommendation is based on expert clinical evaluation and interpretation by specialists in cardiovascular prevention, imaging, and interventional cardiology.
Will my results be shared with my healthcare providers?
Yes. Your assessment findings are integrated into your NCH electronic medical record, allowing your physicians and care team to access key results, recommendations, and clinical insights. This helps promote continuity of care and ensures that your preventive strategy is aligned across all providers involved in your health.
Your cardiologist manages disease once it appears. The NCH Rooney Heart Institute Cardiac Prevention Program identifies and quantifies risk before disease develops using diagnostics typically reserved for academic and research centers. It’s the difference between knowing your heart is fine today and knowing how to keep it that way for decades.
We’re pairing prevention with purpose for your future, and for the loved ones who share it.
