When you visit the hospital, sometimes you may have to receive medications or other fluids through an IV inserted into your arm. A generous local couple just made it easier and less painful, if you have that experience at NCH. Patricia and Don Altorfer made a donation specifically so we could get new ultrasound machines that help guide IV placement and insertion.
Caitlin George, administrative director of NCH Emergency Services, said, “It was like Christmas morning in the ERs when these rolled in! The machines will improve both staff workflows and patient experience. The guided IV insertion will help reduce the number of IV attempts and reduce pain.”
The ultrasound machines have already been placed at the NCH North Hospital and the NCH Baker Hospital in downtown Naples, as well as in the NCH Northeast Freestanding Emergency Department on Collier Boulevard. The cutting-edge Sonosite STs offer crisp, clear images.
The Altorfers were inspired to make a gift that would have an immediate impact on patients, with Patricia saying, “We’ve watched NCH evolve in 1,001 different ways over the past few years to benefit our community, so we felt it was important to contribute something high on NCH’s wish list that would matter right away.”
If you’re inspired to make a gift like this to directly impact quality at NCH, please reach out to the Center for Philanthropy at (239) 624-2000 or go to NCHmd.org/donate.
