Southwest Floridians will soon get access to a brand new, state-of-the-art NCH facility in conjunction with the nation’s top-ranked hospital for orthopedics 13 years in a row. NCH and the New York-based Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS) are creating a one-stop center where patients can receive every stage of bone and adjacent soft-tissue treatment, including precise imaging. The new Patty and Jay Baker Orthopedic Pavilion will have cutting-edge technology that allows clinicians to evaluate everything from sports injuries to underlying orthopedic issues and develop personalized treatment plans for patients. Local residents Paula Jo and Robert W. Boykin recently provided a generous $1 million donation to help bring the center to life.
“We’ve been Naple’s residents for almost 20 years now, and the hospital, as we all get older, is ever more important,” says Robert W. Boykin, chairman and CEO of the Boykin Management Company. “Naples is such a great community, and we want to support it.”
The Boykin family founded the Boykin Management Company, which manages and consults with hotels and conference centers nationwide, and they also take pride in their Florida real estate investments like the Pink Shell Resort & Marina on Fort Myers Beach. NCH will name the new center’s reception space for imaging in honor of the Boykins.
With this gift, the prolific philanthropists also become lifetime members of NCH’s Medical Diplomats Council, where their valued relationship with the healthcare system will continue. The family views this donation as a chance to both make a real difference and optimize estate planning. They encourage others to consider this type of charitable endeavor, which benefits everyone in our community.
“When we’re in Florida, NCH is our hospital, absolutely,” says Paula Jo Boykin, president of the Boykin Management Company’s interior design division. “We love supporting the communities we’ve been a part of and always have. Giving to our local hospital and maximizing estate planning at the same time, that’s an easy one. Right?”
