Tom Golisano, the founder of payroll and HR firm Paychex, recently donated a staggering $85 million to Southwest Florida nonprofits, including NCH. The surprise announcement committed unrestricted funds to 41 different organizations through the Golisano Foundation. NCH will receive $5 million, on top of the recent $5 million gift Golisano made earlier this year for heart and stroke care. Other charity recipients include those benefiting children, animal welfare, healthcare, disability services and education.
Golisano announced, “One of my favorite sayings is ‘the only wealth you keep is that which you give away,’ and this year, I’ve decided to act on that saying…There are so many organizations in this region doing great work…I hope this unexpected funding helps them broaden their impact and strengthen their organizations, so they can expand their services and those they serve.”
In total, Golisano has donated $860 million over his lifetime. NCH is honored and inspired by this transformative gift. We plan to use our portion to enhance care, innovate and expand services to our community where it’s needed most.
