CEO ANNOUNCEMENT PRESS RELEASE
INTRODUCTION OF THE NCH SEARCH COMMITTEE

(Naples, FL, August 1, 2019) On Friday, July 26th, NCH Healthcare System announced the appointing of new CEO/President, Paul C. Hiltz. The announcement was made through an introductory video that was played for NCH staff before it was shared with the public.

Today, Mr. Hiltz is in Naples visiting three NCH campuses. The visit will be highlighted by a press conference and feature several meet-and-greet opportunities.

The confidential search process began in April 2019 with the hiring of globally renowned search firm, Russell Reynolds Associates. Over 100 highly accredited, talented leaders from across the country voiced their desire to work with the hospital system. The high interest in joining NCH was validation of the incredible staff and physician family.

After meticulously assessing highly qualified candidates, the search committee narrowed the field down to 11 individuals, who were brought to Naples for in-person interviews.

As the process evolved, two top candidates were recommended by the NCH search committee to the NCH Board of Trustees, who unanimously selected Hiltz as the new leader.

“Mr. Hiltz’s record of results exemplifies everything that NCH stands for,” said Michael Wynn, a member of the NCH search committee. “When he talks about community, he means it. His commitment to physician engagement and collaborative culture, will bring a new energy to our hospital system that will make us stronger.”

The search committee was made up of 10 members: Jay Baker, Kevin Beebe, Thomas Gazdic, Paul Jones, M.D., Scott Lutgert, Mariann MacDonald, Bryan Murphey, M.D., Greg Russo, Michael Wynn, and John Lewis, M.D.

“Paul is the perfect person to lead NCH,” said committee member Scott Lutgert. “He strongly believes in collaboration and teamwork. He has the skill set to take NCH to a new level of excellence.”

Hiltz was drawn to the opportunity because of the focus on excellence in patient care that NCH is known for. With community at his core, Hiltz and his family have been at the forefront of many local initiatives throughout his career.

“We’ve always been active in our communities. We want to give something back wherever we go,” Hiltz said. “For me and my family, this opportunity is about connections with the community, partnerships with doctors and excellence in patient care.”

Hiltz will begin his role as CEO/President on September 3rd when he will immediately begin a listening tour focused on gaining a deep understanding of the NCH community and needs of the staff. He has made it clear that listening will not only be the focus of his first 90 days but also the cornerstone of his leadership role at NCH. Hiltz has over 25 years of experience in the healthcare space and has high aspirations for the organization.

“We’re going to be moving us into the Leap Frog A, to the CMS 5-star, and other publicly reported metrics that verify we are, in fact, one of the best in the country.”

Hiltz was born and raised in the Northern Kentucky, Greater Cincinnati area and attended Xavier University for graduate school where he got a Master’s degree in Health Administration. Hiltz has been the CEO of medical groups, accountable care organizations, and acute care hospitals in highly competitive markets. Most recently, he was the President and CEO of Mercy Medical Center in Canton, Ohio.

Hiltz also maintains prominent positions on multiple professional and community associations, including the Board of Directors at E.F. Hutton & Co. and the Springfield, Ohio Chamber of Commerce. In addition to his accolades, he won the 2017 Distinguished Alumni Service Award from the Xavier Graduate Program in Health Administration for outstanding service to the program.

He and his wife Kristen have been married for 24 years, have four children and are very excited to start their new chapter in Naples, Florida.
