NCH is using cutting‑edge AI technology called OrthoGrid to make hip replacement surgeries more precise and reduce complications. With over half a million Americans receiving hip replacements each year, even a few millimeters of misalignment can lead to long‑term issues like uneven leg length, limping, or joint dislocation. OrthoGrid uses artificial intelligence to analyze X‑rays in real time, locking onto up to 35 anatomical markers and guiding surgeons as they position the new hip socket. By providing instant feedback on alignment, the system helps doctors recreate exact anatomy with far greater accuracy. According to surgeons at HSS at NCH, this increased precision leads to better outcomes, fewer complications, and longer‑lasting artificial joints — a major advantage as more, and younger, patients seek hip replacements.
