Local man falls victim to rare Guillain-Barré syndrome

Ross Varacelli, a healthy father of four, was suddenly struck by Guillain-Barré syndrome, leaving him paralyzed and dependent on breathing and feeding tubes. The rare condition, often triggered by an overactive immune response after an infection, caused his rapid deterioration. While his brain remains unaffected, his recovery will be long, requiring extensive rehabilitation. His family is leaning on community support as they navigate his prolonged journey toward recovery.
