After receiving a double lung transplant in 2024, Naples resident Oscar Escobar has dedicated his second chance at life to supporting others living with chronic lung disease. Diagnosed with pulmonary fibrosis, Escobar spent four years waiting for a transplant while participating in pulmonary rehabilitation. Today, he helps lead the Naples Pulmonary Rehab Club at NCH, where patients, caregivers and healthcare professionals come together for education, exercise and peer support. During Pulmonary Fibrosis Awareness Month, Escobar is raising awareness about the disease and encouraging patients to seek the resources and hope available through the club’s free community programs.
