NCH is redefining what’s possible in heart care.

At NCH Rooney Heart Institute, innovation met urgency when a Naples woman arrived with a massive heart attack and two life-threatening holes in her heart—conditions that carry a mortality risk of more than 90%.

Using newly implemented in-house 3D printing technology, NCH physicians created an exact, millimeter-accurate replica of the patient’s heart. This breakthrough allowed the care team to map, test, and rehearse a complex repair before ever entering the operating room.

Led by interventional cardiology and advanced cardiac imaging specialists, the team successfully performed a first-of-its-kind procedure in Florida, sending the patient home with her life saved—and a 3D-printed model of her own heart as a reminder of what precision medicine can achieve.

This milestone underscores NCH’s commitment to:

  • Cutting-edge technology
  • Personalized, patient-first care
  • Leading the future of complex heart surgery

At NCH, innovation isn’t about the tools—it’s about saving lives. ❤️
