A 77-year-old Naples man has returned to his active lifestyle after recovering from heart failure with a minimally invasive mitral clip procedure. Mike Sayen had struggled to climb stairs or engage in physical activity before Dr. Luis Paz, an interventional cardiologist at NCH Healthcare System, identified a failing mitral valve as the cause of his heart failure.
Dr. Paz repaired the valve using a mitral clip, a device inserted through a vein that reduces blood regurgitation without open-heart surgery. Sayen was back on his bike the very next day and is now enjoying daily rides with his wife.
