NCH Healthcare System Receives Certification as Thrombectomy-Capable Stroke Center

NAPLES, Fla. – Nov. 15, 2021 The NCH Healthcare System has received certification as a Thrombectomy-Capable Stroke Center from the Joint Commission in coordination with the American Heart Association and American Stroke Association. This designation makes NCH the one and only Thrombectomy-Capable Stroke Center in Southwest Florida.

The Joint Commission accredits more than 22,000 US health care organizations and programs, and has become a trusted resource for consumers looking for health care facilities that provide the best possible care – every time – to each and every patient. Certification by The Joint Commission is considered the gold standard in health care.

NCH voluntarily underwent and passed a thorough evaluation by The Joint Commission to determine if our Stroke program met their rigorous performance standards to be categorized as a Thrombectomy-Capable Stroke Center and in delivering quality, safe care.

Achieving certification means that our staff has made an extra effort to review and improve the key areas that can affect the quality and safety of your stroke care. As a Thrombectomy-Capable Stroke Center, NCH has been recognized for providing a standardized and evidence-based approach to treating stroke patients and offers our community a dedicated stroke unit. But perhaps most importantly, NCH has been recognized as having the tools and expertise to perform mechanical thrombectomy – a minimally invasive surgical procedure to remove a blood clot from an artery. Additionally, NCH also has neurointensive care and 24/7 on-site critical care coverage.

“NCH has always been a leader in providing the most comprehensive stroke care possible to the residents of our community,” said Paul Hiltz, President and CEO, NCH Healthcare System. “Minutes count for the successful treatment of stroke, and certification as a Thrombectomy-Capable Stroke Center means you can count on NCH to offer you your best chances in our region for a complete recovery.”
