Naples, FL., October 2, 2025 – Naples Comprehensive Health (NCH) is launching NCH Southwest Florida Gynecologic Oncology, a new specialty service focused on the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of cancers of the female reproductive system. The program opened Oct. 1, 2025, bringing advanced cancer care closer to home for women in the region.

The service is led by gynecologic oncologists Edward Grendys, MD, and John McBroom, MD, who bring more than 55 years of combined clinical experience. Both are national faculty members and recognized leaders in minimally invasive robotic surgery and HIPEC (heated intraperitoneal chemotherapy perfusion). They are also active in clinical trials that expand access for women, introducing them to new therapies.

Dr. Grendys, faculty appointed at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, has more than 30 years of experience in gynecologic oncology. He previously trained fellows at the National Cancer Institute – Moffitt Cancer and Research Center in Tampa and has practiced in Southwest Florida for many years.

Dr. McBroom, a faculty member at George Washington University, is board-certified in obstetrics / gynecology and gynecologic oncology. Fellowship-trained at the National Cancer Institute and Walter Reed Army Medical Center, he is a former Army physician who performed the first robotic HIPEC procedure in Georgia.

“NCH Gynecologic Oncology is centered around the patient,” said Dr. McBroom, OB/GYN and Gynecologic Oncologist at NCH. “We are committed to providing comprehensive care that not only treats the cancer, but also supports the patient’s overall well-being, from diagnosis through survivorship.”

The clinic will treat uterine, ovarian and cervical cancers, as well as other complex gynecologic conditions. Services include advanced imaging, molecular testing, minimally invasive biopsies, genetic testing, clinical trials and supportive care such as patient navigation, nutrition counseling, social work and survivorship programs. Additionally, NCH will collaborate with Northwestern Medicine, Chicago’s premier integrated academic health system, to improve local access to clinical research and nationally recognized subspecialty cancer expertise.

“Early detection and specialized treatment make an enormous difference in outcomes,” said Dr. Grendys, Gynecologic Oncologist at NCH. “Now patients can receive this level of care without having to leave Naples.”

Consultations and appointments are available by calling 239-624-8080. The clinic is located at Pro Scan Women’s Imaging at NCH, 32320 Vanderbilt Beach Road in Naples.
