The Vision Behind the Institute & Pavilion
Strong communities begin with access to quality healthcare, education, and opportunity
A Legacy of Compassion and Access
The Bill and Julia Van Domelen Foundation is rooted in the belief that strong communities begin with access to quality healthcare, education, and opportunity. Julia Van Domelen has dedicated her philanthropy to ensuring that families, especially the most vulnerable, receive the care, dignity, and support they need to thrive.
Through the Foundation, Julia has championed initiatives that expand access to healthcare, strengthen behavioral and maternal mental health services, and address critical gaps that too often leave individuals and families without essential resources across Collier County.
The Van Domelen Institute for Women and Children and the Van Domelen Women’s and Children’s Pavilion bring this vision to life. Together, they create a comprehensive, integrated model of care that unites world-class women’s and pediatric services under one roof while extending support beyond the hospital and into the daily lives of families. The Pavilion will serve as a destination for advanced clinical care, innovation, and healing, while the Institute ensures education, prevention, and community-based support remain at the heart of this work for generations to come.

Understanding the Institute & the Pavilion
Two distinct but complementary components working together to transform care
The Van Domelen Institute
for Women & Children
The Institute is the integrated model of care and programmatic framework. It represents a unified approach to comprehensive, coordinated services for women and children throughout Southwest Florida.
What It Delivers: The Institute extends care beyond hospital walls, addressing prevention, education, behavioral health, and chronic disease management across the lifespan.
Guided by equal representation from NCH and Nicklaus Children’s Hospital through a Joint Oversight Committee, the Institute brings together outpatient, preventive, specialty, and community-based services under one shared vision.
Services include prenatal and postpartum care, pediatric subspecialties, women’s care, behavioral health, pelvic floor therapy, menopause management, education, research, and long-term care coordination.
Built on: Compassion, Excellence, Collaboration, Innovation, and Community Stewardship—with an unwavering commitment to ensuring every woman, mother, baby, and child receives world-class care close to home.
The Van Domelen Pavilion
for Women & Children
The Pavilion is the physical, state-of-the-art facility that will bring this vision to life. It represents a four-story, 156,000-square-foot center of clinical excellence.
What It Provides: Inpatient and acute services, including labor and delivery, operating rooms, advanced maternal-fetal and women’s health medicine, and a Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.
Built above the existing pediatric and adult emergency departments at NCH North Hospital, the Pavilion will create a seamless environment for the most complex and critical care needs.
As part of the project, a new parking garage will be constructed to accommodate additional parking for staff, patients, and families, improving access and convenience across the campus.
Timeline: Construction will begin once 80% of the total project cost has been raised through philanthropy, ensuring financial sustainability and community support.
