A dedicated family lounge gives families a place to take a break. Often times, the cafeteria seems too far away for a parent, this space allows families to share a meal or have some quiet time while still remaining close to their sick child.
An arts in healing program providing emotional support to children and families along with an ocean-themed playroom is also available in the pediatric unit as NCH continues to expand and develop services to keep children close to home and family.
The pediatric unit is equipped with a variety of state-of-the-art technology and equipment to assist in the quality care of everyday tasks for even the sickest patients.
To make a child feel safe during their stay, we try not to do any procedures — especially painful ones — in the room. Instead, this treatment room is used for procedures such as spinal taps and IV starts. Its dim lighting and entertaining artwork help provide a distraction.
Our nurses’ station is centrally located outside patient rooms for quick and easy access.
