Pediatric Inpatient Services

Staff
Board certified pediatric intensivist’s give coverage to the pediatric unit on a 24/7 basis. The floor is also staffed with registered nurses specialized in the emotional and physical the care of pediatric patients. Patient Rooms
Our bright, cheerful space provides all single-bed rooms for inpatients. The floor features 16 general pediatric beds, four progressive care beds and four intensive care beds. These large, ergonomic rooms include a full bathroom and child-friendly shower, and plenty of space for the patient’s family members along with the health care team. We encourage at least one parent to stay with their child during the child’s hospital stay as we strongly promote family-centered care.

State of the Art
The pediatric unit is equipped with a variety of state of the art technology and equipment to assist in the quality care of everyday tasks for even the sickest patients.

Treatment Room
To make a child feel safe during their stay, we try not to do any procedures — especially painful ones — in the room. Instead, this treatment room is used for procedures such as spinal taps and IV starts. Its dim lighting and entertaining artwork help provide a distraction.

Nurses Station
Our nurses’ station is centrally located outside patient rooms for quick and easy access.

Lounge
A dedicated family lounge gives families a place to take a break. Often times, the cafeteria seems too far away for a parent, this space allows families to share a meal or have some quiet time while still remaining close to their sick child.

Play
An arts in healing program providing emotional support to children and families along with an ocean-themed playroom is also available in the pediatric unit as NCH continues to expand and develop services to keep children close to home and family.

At NCH we are continuing to expand and develop our services to keep our children close to home and near their families when they require hospitalization. We look forward to working with you.
