The past weeks have been tough, and with Florida’s stay-at-home order set to expire on April 30th, there is a mix of both excitement and anxiety around the state’s reopening. While many are eager for the statewide lockdown to be lifted, there are serious concerns about reopening too quickly and paving the way for another wave of infections and deaths. Read on as we explore the topic of Florida’s reopening and the precautions we should take as a public to ensure our health and safety.
Taking Precautions
When Florida does reopen, it will certainly not be business as usual – intense precautions must be taken by all.
Wash Your Hands
Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. Wash after blowing your nose, coughing or sneezing, wash after spending time in a public place. Wash before and after touching people you’re caring for. If soap and water aren’t available, use a hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol.
Continue to Practice Social Distancing
Despite some businesses reopening, it’s imperative to continue to practice social distancing. Staying six feet apart while shopping or doing anything outside of your home is a good idea for the foreseeable future.
Wear a Mask
New research and guidance from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) have proven masks to be effective in the fight against the spread of coronavirus. As we slowly reenter our normal lives outside of stay-at-home orders, we need to continue the practice of wearing masks while out in public.
Here are some helpful infographics from the WHO (World Health Organization) that show you how to put on and remove masks and other proper mask-wearing and washing techniques.
Check Your Temperature
Temperature checks will also be important as we reopen our beautiful state. Checking your temperature once in the morning and once in the evening will make you, and our community as a whole, more vigilant in our battle against the virus and the reopening of our businesses and the overall economy.
